Louis Vuitton Paris RTW autumn winter collection 2013
Let's begin. The vintage feel of the velvety dresses, yes, the velvet dresses were oh so 'Downton Abbey' the popular PBS TV show set in the British countryside during the Edwardian era, billige nike free, WWI and after.
Lady Cora Crawley's mysterious presence was in many of the lavish overcoats of pink and soft gray.
Ingrid Sischy for Vanity Fair Magazine said, "First of all this collection is a great triumph because it was really small and big at the same time. It was mysterious."
The vintage elements of elegance, romance, mystery and drama to define what is modern and trendy today. How so?
Jacobs in an interview with Video Fashion (See video below) about who is this woman, "She's a woman who enjoys beautiful things and dresses to please herself first and maybe that's a turn on for some. The collection had some odd combinations and awkward moments, which I find interesting and many of the conservative elements were made more feminine through embroidery and lace."
I felt that Jacobs was mixing fashion periods from unique historical and cultural settings, and matching decidedly the different tastes of the British, French and Americans.
Lovely French lace lingerie dresses covered up by British style plaid overcoats paired with the '40s silhouette reminiscent of the movie star glamour of Marlene Dietrich and Joan Crawford.
The models were styled in an American '20s Claire Bow bob hair cut, the dark smoldering eyes of a French coquette wearing the glamorous fashion influences of both the British and American Hollywood.
